PRIVACY

Your information.

How information is handled in this local development preview.

Accounts and requests

Registration stores your email address, an optional name and a password hash. Verification and reset links expire after 30 minutes. Signing in creates a revocable session. Sales, support and trial requests are stored encrypted in the local database.

Local emails

Verification and password-reset messages are captured by the local Mailpit service. They are not delivered to external email addresses. Use test data when evaluating this preview.

Quotation downloads

Downloading a quotation records a sales request with your billing details and queues a copy of the PDF for sales@babelfor.net. The document and sales request are stored encrypted. In this local preview, the email is captured in Mailpit and is not delivered externally. Repeating the same download reuses its recorded copy.

VAT and payment availability

Entering an EU VAT number sends that number and its country to the European Commission’s VIES service for online verification. The result may include the registered company name. If you submit a purchase request, its billing details and validation result are stored encrypted locally.

Checkout uses ipapi.is from the server to determine the visitor’s country and show the available payment methods. In this local preview, this is the country of the computer’s public internet connection. The website retains only the country in its location cache, not the full IP address or precise location. No payment is collected in this preview.

License protection

When license monitoring is enabled, Babel Licensing Service records Enterprise license check-ins with their server receipt time, source IP and approximate country or region. Public IP addresses are sent to ipapi.is for location and network information. These observations help an administrator investigate possible license sharing; they do not cause an automatic block. File licenses can operate offline, so check-ins are not a complete record of application use.

IP observations and the IP evidence attached to alerts are retained for 30 days. Administrator decisions and review notes remain in the licensing database. This local preview does not receive check-ins from production customers.

Trial licenses and licenses bought on this site record every activation, and every time a floating license is requested or released: the time, the IP address the request came from, and an approximate location that ipapi.is works out from that address. We use these records to help you when a license will not activate and to notice when a license is being shared. The records are kept with the license.

Babel Desktop

Babel Desktop sends a short report to the licensing service each time it reads the extensions gallery (at start-up, when you open or refresh the gallery, when you check for updates, when the license changes), after you install an extension or switch between stable and development versions, and every four hours. The report contains the application's name and version, its update channel (stable or development), the platform, a hash of a random identifier created for the installation, and for each extension installed from the gallery its identifier, version and channel.

The identifier is not derived from your hardware, user name or license. When Babel Desktop has a license, the license key travels with the request and links the report to that license. Like any request, this one also carries the standard request headers and comes from your IP address. The report contains no project names, paths or file contents, and no other settings.

The report is also sent when automatic updates are off, and there is no setting to turn it off. We keep the latest report for each installation and license, and delete it 180 days after the last one was received.

Browser storage

A session cookie keeps you signed in. Browser storage remembers your choice of light or dark theme, an administrator’s navigation preference and checkout continuity within your browser tab. This preview does not load analytics or advertising trackers. See the cookie and browser storage notice for the names, purposes, lifetimes and browser controls.
