Runtime included.
Every Desktop installer includes the application and .NET runtimes. The installed application is called Babel Obfuscator. You do not need to install Node.js or .NET first.
Updates follow your license.
Windows updates require a valid license within maintenance. On macOS and Linux, updates require an Ultimate, Server, Data Center or demo license within maintenance. MSI, DEB and RPM updates are managed by your deployment tools.

CLI packages, the Babel NuGet packages, Babel Encrypt and the Licensing Service are available from the installed Desktop app or your account, subject to your license and maintenance. Downloads use short-lived access. Permanent storage URLs are never exposed.
Which CLI package should I use?+
Every command-line package includes babel, lic, HardwareId and the MSBuild task. Pick the one that matches the .NET version on the machine that runs the build: .NET 8, 9 or 10, or babel_net472 for .NET Framework 4.7.2. An Enterprise license works with any of them, but only on Windows, on up to two workstations. On a build server, in a container, or on macOS and Linux, Babel stops with a license error instead of producing a demo build. Build servers and other operating systems need Ultimate, Server or Data Center.
Which desktop package updates itself?+
The Windows per-user EXE, macOS application and Linux AppImage support in-app updates. Windows MSI is managed per machine; Linux DEB and RPM use the system package manager.
Where are the old Babel UI installers?+
Babel Desktop replaces Babel UI. The former babel_obfuscator and babel_licensing MSI packages, the separate macOS zip and the separate Data Center service package are discontinued. Choose the current Desktop installer or a licensed CLI/service package.
