RELEASE NOTES

What’s new in Babel.

Changes to the engine, licensing tools and Desktop workspace, from the product release notes.

Released November 15, 2025

Version 11.5.0.0

Babel Obfuscator

Enhancements

  • .NET 10 SDK (Official): Added full .NET 10.0 SDK targeting across babel.exe, Babel.Win, and MSBuild tooling, including new net10 .babel project templates and refreshed Babel.Obfuscator/Babel.Obfuscator.Tool/Babel.Data/Babel.Licensing NuGet packages.
  • Babel.Obfuscator NuGet Package: Added BabelWarningsAsErrors property to let CI builds fail fast when license validation warnings are emitted.
  • Babel.Obfuscator NuGet Package: Included Newtonsoft.Json dependency for .NET Framework 4.x, Mono, and .NET 4.72 targets to keep serialization helpers aligned with the new toolchain.

Bug Fixes

  • Field RVA Alignment: Improved data alignment handling in buffer management - if the Field RVA refers to a locally defined type with a pack > 1, align the InitialValue to pack boundary. (Fixed crashes that could occur when obfuscated applications use advanced .NET features like Span<T> for type-safe memory access.)
  • License Refresh Interval: Shortened the license heartbeat refresh from 10 to 5 days to avoid stale activations during long-running obfuscation jobs.
  • Concurrent License Store Access: Fixed intermittent "License component not available" errors when running multiple babel.exe processes in parallel. Added FileShare.Read and retry logic to the license store to handle file locking conflicts between processes.

Babel Licensing

A chat request asking for an interactive geographic dashboard of customers who purchased licenses in 2025
A licensing question asked in plain language through the MCP server.
Customer geospatial analytics dashboard with totals, country filters and a world map of license holders
The dashboard the agent built from that request, on live licensing data.

Enhancements

  • .NET 10 SDK (Official): Multi-targeted the Babel Licensing Service, clients, and data libraries to net10.0 and refreshed the corresponding NuGet packages so deployments can run on the released SDK alongside existing TFMs.
  • Babel Licensing MCP Server: Introduced a Model Context Protocol server that exposes Babel Licensing Service capabilities to MCP-compliant AI agents for automated entitlement validation.
  • TOON Format Integrations: Added custom TOON input/output formatters (plus service wiring) so webhook and API consumers can exchange TOON payloads natively.
  • IP Filtering Middleware: Reworked IP filtering with compiled regex patterns, explicit exact-match handling, and better diagnostics to reduce latency under heavy traffic.
  • Babel Licensing Service: Enhanced webhook event handling to verify service availability before processing.
  • Babel Licensing Service: Optimized license retrieval logic to check both LicenseId and UserKey for more flexible license validation.

Bug Fixes

  • Babel Reporting: Fixed Report Date field serialization issue in .NET 4.8 applications.
  • NET 4.5 Compatibility: Added SendExceptionReport method for .NET 4.5 framework support by including BabelReportingExtensions for net4 target.
  • Lic CLI: Corrected the licensee company argument mapping so automated license generation scripts persist the provided customer metadata.
